Abstract:

In the present study 301 specimens of Puntius chola and 364 specimens of Puntius dorsalis of variable size ranging from (80 mm to 186 mm) , weight range from (7.81gms to 74 gm) and size range from (50 mm to 106 mm), weight range from (2.02gms to 14.7gms) respectively in cholavaram lake in Chennai are studied to investigate the parameters of length–weight relationship. Log transformed regression were used to test the isometric growth. Each fish was measured and weighted. It was observed that the growth of length is almost to the proportional to the weight of the fish. The r2 value = 0.993 in Puntius chola and the r value of Puntius dorsalis r 2= 0.991.
